Style of play

After his first training session with the Wolves, defender Marcel Tisserand, who is on loan in Wolfsburg from FC Ingolstadt until June, 30th, 2018, was officially presented to the press representatives in the VfL-Center, before heading out for his second team session in the afternoon. VfL head-coach Andries Jonker emphasised VfL Wolfsburg’s necessity to become active again on the transfer market in the search for central-defender following the serious injury to John Anthony Brooks:

"We see the need to have at least three central defenders in the squad. We had initially planned with four central defenders, but now two of them are not available to us. To go into the season with just two central defenders would be a little too tight.

"VfL sporting director Olaf Rebbe explained: "We are happy to have won the services of Marcel for our team and to have come to an agreement with Ingolstadt. We are delighted that Marcel has been involved in his first  training session.

" The 24-year-old new-man, who holds both Congolese as well as French citizenship, got some information on his new team from two Green-Whites, before making his own first impressions of his new team mates on Tuesday morning. "I got a positive first impression of the team in the first training session. There is a lot of quality in the side.

Before I made the move I spoke about the club with Josuha Guilavogui and Paul-Georges Ntep – so there were no real surprises for me."The central-defender continued: "I wanted a new challenge and to stay in the Bundesliga.

" As to whether Tisserand will be involved from the start for the Wolves on Saturday, August 26th (kick-off 15:30 CET) on match-day two away to Eintracht Frankfurt, remains
an option for Jonker: "  Marcel appears to be fit, but after just one training session, it’s too early to say more than that."
